Colorado College sophomore defenseman Doug Leaverton has left the Tigers’ program and hopes to transfer to another Division I school.
“The way the (2010-11) season ended was a sign,” Leaverton told the Colorado Springs Gazette. “I didn’t play the last four weeks. I decided I need to pursue my career elsewhere. I’ve made some good friends and have gotten close with some of the guys in my class. It has been tough to leave, but I have to do what’s right for my future.”
Leaverton said he has been in touch with Ohio State and Penn State about joining their programs.
