ST. CLOUD, Minn. — Getting scoring late in each period from three different forwards and a strong effort in net by Ryan Faragher, who made 33 saves, St. Cloud rallied past North Dakota, beating UND 3-1 to remain tied for first place headed into the final weekend of play.
North Dakota struck first on a short-handed goal by leading scorer Rocco Grimaldi at 14:17 of the first period, but St. Cloud evened it back up barely a minute later with Joey Benik scored at 15:44.
Cory Thorson scored the game-winner at 18:55 of the second, and Kevin Gravel added an empty-netter at 19:51 of the third to seal the win.
While the two squads are tied for first, North Dakota holds the tiebreaker due to more conference wins. St. Cloud travels to Colorado Springs to face Colorado College next weekend, while North Dakota hosts Western Michigan.
