Mark Morris has a new job, at least for now.
Morris, who was fired in November after 15 seasons as head coach at Clarkson, has been added to the staff of the Vancouver Canucks. Morris’ long-time friend, Marc Crawford, is the Canucks’ head coach. He was on the ice for team’s practice today.
Morris was brought up to help assist in the transition to a new strength and conditioning coach, though Morris’ exact role isn’t totally clear. The team’s strength and conditioning coach, Peter Twist, recently left to concentrate on his family and business commitments.
“I’m not quite sure what my role is, but I’m feeling my way around,” said Morris to the Vancouver Province. “I got the call last week from Marc. … I’m just looking for an opportunity to help out if I can.”
Said Crawford, “He’ll help us out while we do what we have to do and make a replacement [for Twist].”
