Boston College freshman Adam Pineault has left school, according to the Eagles’ athletic office.
No reason was given for Pineault’s departure.
In his rookie season, Pineault primarily was a fourth line player, scoring four goals and four assists in 29 games played.
Pineault, who won’t turn 18 until May 23, is eligible for this year’s NHL Entry Draft if he opts-in.
Due to a recent ruling by the NCAA, Pineault can safely opt into the draft without giving up his NCAA eligibility.
In the NHL Central Scouting Service’s mid-season rankings, Pineault was ranked 21st among North American forwards and defensemen, ranking him fourth among college players and tops in Hockey East. He is anticipated to be a late first-round or early second-round draft choice.
