Daniel Winnik, a junior at New Hampshire, has decided to forgo his senior season and sign with the Phoenix Coyotes.
Winnik was a ninth-round draft pick of the Coyotes in 2004, the 265th overall pick.
“Daniel has developed into one of the top power forwards in the league,” said UNH coach Dick Umile. “We all wish him continued success with his professional hockey career.”
Winnik compiled 41 points (15-26–41) this pst season, was named to the Second Team in Hockey East and was fifth in the league in scoring with 28 points. In his career he compiled 37 goals and 58 assists.
