Defending NCAA champion Wisconsin dominated the 2006-07 Preseason D-I Women’s All-USCHO selections by placing three players on the First Team, while Minnesota-Duluth led the Preseason All-USCHO Rookie Team with two selections.
2006 Patty Kazmaier winner Sara Bauer, defenseman Bobbi-Jo Slusar, and 2006 Frozen Four MVP Jesse Vetter were Wisconsin’s First Team selections. The forward line is rounded out by two Olympians, Dartmouth’s Katie Weatherston and Harvard’s Julie Chu, and UNH defenseman Martine Garland, a First Team All-USCHO selection last season.
The competition for individual awards will be deeper than ever this season, as 11 of the 15 players to receive All-USCHO First, Second, and Third Team postseason honors returned this season. In addition, four American and five Canadian Olympians will play this season. Swedish goalie Kim Martin and Finnish defenseman Heidi Pelltari, UMD’s two All-Rookie selections, highlight the list of new Scandinavian Olympians.
