Becker College has been confirmed as the 17th member of the ECAC Northeast and will begin league play during the 2007-08 season.
The decision was made by the league administrators at their annual fall meeting during the ECAC Convention and Trade Show.
“Becker College has made a commitment to its ice hockey program and that commitment has been recognized by the ECAC Northeast in welcoming the school as a new member,” said Interim ECAC Commisioner Steve Bamford. “We wish them well as they build and grow their program in an effort to be a competitive team within a highly competitive division III ice hockey league.”
Craig Barnett, who serves as Becker’s Director of Athletics, is the head coach for the Hawks, as they enter the inaugural season of the program as an independent school. The New England Sports Center will be their home rink.
