With Minnesota losing a 2-0 lead in the third period today at Mariucci Arena, the top 10 teams in this week’s USCHO.com/CBS College Sports poll went 2-5-3 in their opening games of the weekend.
That should make the ballot interesting to fill out on Sunday.
It should be noted that Notre Dame won a shootout after tying Lake Superior State, so it’s not as bad as the record shows. OK, yes it is.
When new No. 1 Boston University and No. 6 New Hampshire lose in games that weren’t even close on the scoreboard, you have to think there’s a full moon. (Actually, that was Friday, but close enough.)
Here’s the full rundown:
No. 1 Boston University lost 5-1 at Massachusetts
No. 2 Minnesota tied Michigan Tech 2-2 at home on Saturday
No. 3 Colorado College lost at Minnesota State 2-1
No. 4 Denver lost at St. Cloud State 4-2
No. 5 Boston College tied Merrimack 5-5 on the road
No. 6 New Hampshire lost at Massachusetts-Lowell 8-3
No. 7 Northeastern won at Vermont 5-3
No. 8 Michigan lost at home to Western Michigan 2-1
No. 9 Notre Dame tied Lake Superior State 3-3 at home, then won the shootout 2-1
No. 10 Miami won at Michigan State 5-1
It’s a little early, but who’s going to be No. 1 next week?
