United States Olympian Karen Thatcher has joined Colgate’s women’s hockey program as an assistant coach.
A 2006 Providence graduate, Thatcher helped the Americans win the 2008 and 2009 world championships and played on the silver medal-winning 2010 Olympic team.
“The addition of Karen Thatcher is a great step forward for our program,” Colgate coach Scott Wiley said in a news release. “She is a dynamic and energetic person who has a true passion for the sport. She has excelled at every level, been a great ambassador and understands what it takes to be a successful student-athlete. Karen adds instant credibility to our program and will help us achieve our goals. We are thrilled that she has joined our staff.”
