A pair of streaks come to an end

Two streaks ended for Air Force last weekend, when the Falcons hosted the American International Yellow Jackets. On Friday, AIC game back from a two-goal deficit to win 5-3. It was the first time in 21 attempts that the Yellow Jackets had defeated the Falcons.

Whatever adjustments made by Air Force Frank Serratore and his squad worked to perfection on Saturday, with the Falcons posting a dominating 12-0 win in the rematch.

The only bad news on Saturday for Air Force is that the game didn’t sell out, breaking a streak of 10 straight sellouts at Cadet Arena (capacity: 2,470) dating back to last season. The Falcons also sold out 11 games in a row during a stretch that spanned the the 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 seasons, and have 20 sellouts in their last 27 games.

“This team has been through hell the last couple weeks losing our first four games,” said Serratore after the game on Saturday.  “Some of that was self-inflicted, but it was sure nice to get this one tonight. It is certainly nice to have this kind of performance going into an off week. We can get rid of that bitter taste we had in our mouths.”

Speaking of crowds:

Air Force has sold a whopping 1,258 season tickets so far this season, putting it well ahead of RIT, which has the second most at 675.
