Atlantic Hockey has released its player, rookie, and goalie of the month for October and it was a clean sweep for the Canisius Golden Griffins.
AHA Player of the Month:
Cory Conacher, Canisius – The reigning Player of the Year picked up where he left off last season with ten points in October, helping the Griffs to a 4-2-1 start.
Also Nominated: Adam Pleskach (AIC), Everett Sheen (Holy Cross), Giancarlo Iuorio (Niagara), Denny Urban (Robert Morris), Adam Hartley (RIT)
AHA Goalie of the Month:
Dan Morrison, Canisius – Morrison compiled a 1.97 GAA and a .947 save percentage in October.
Also Nominated: Brooks Ostergard (Robert Morris)
AHA Rookie of the Month:
Kyle Gibbons, Canisius – the freshman from Westlake, Ohio got off to an impressive start, recording five goals and three assists in his first seven games.
Also Nominated:Cole Schneider (Connecticut), Shayne Stockton (Holy Cross), Ryan Rashid (Niagara)

Turning the focus from last month to last week, here’s your USCHO.com AHA Player of the Week
POTW:
Paul Zanette, Niagara – The last three USCHO POTW’s have had five point weeks, but Zanette went one better. The senior forward had four goals and two assists in a pair of wins for the Purple Eagles.
Notables:
Garrett Bartus – Connecticut. Bartus stopped 59 of 62 shots to help the Huskies to take three points from Canisius. UConn is off to its best start in 12 years.
Tony Capobianco – Canisius – The other goalie in Saturday’s 1-1 between UConn and Cansius wasn’t bad either. Capobianco made 39 saves to help the Griffs come away with a point in a 1-1 tie.
Ryan Leets, Army – In his first career start, Leets made 29 saves and recorded an assist in a 5-2 win at Massachusetts.
Milestones
Two Atlantic Hockey coaches recorded career milestones last week. Mercyhurst’s Rick Gotkin got his 400th win last Friday in a 6-2 win at Air Force, and Bentley coach Ryan Soderquist picked up his 100th win in a 2-1 win over Northeastern.
