Two great records last week. One, though, is better than the other.
Dave last week: 8-2-1
Jim last week: 10-0-1 (yeah, baby!)
Dave’s record-to-date: 37-16-16 (.652)
Jim’s record-to-date: 35-12-13 (.691)
Here are this week’s picks:
Friday, December 3
Boston College at Boston University
Jim’s pick: Difficult series to pick and a split is most likely. I’ll play it safe and pick the home teams.
BU 4, BC 2
Dave’s pick: At the beginning of the year, I’d have picked a BC sweep but not now. Home teams it is.
BU 3, BC 2
Merrimack at Northeastern
Jim’s pick: This is a red-hot Warriors team that is difficult to pick against.
MC 3, NU 1
Dave’s pick: Break up the Warriors.
MC 3, NU 1
Maine at Providence
Jim’s pick: The Black Bears need this weekend series to bounce back from the BC debacle.
Maine 5, PC 3
Dave’s pick: Providence is a lot better than we thought but not this good.
Maine 4, PC 2
Saturday, December 4
Boston University at Boston College
Jim’s pick: Eagles take the back end of this home-and-home.
BC 4, BU 3
Dave’s pick: A split it is.
BC 3, BU 2
Northeastern at Merrimack
Jim’s pick: If you read these picks each week, no need to explain my reasoning for this one.
MC 5, NU 2
Dave’s pick: The nationally ranked Warriors sweep. (Jump in a time machine, go back five or six years and bet someone that anyone would write that sentence.)
MC 4, NU 2
Maine at Providence
Jim’s pick: Providence is improved but they’re walking into a sleeping giant here. Black Bears sweep.
Maine 3, PC 2
Dave’s pick: The Black Bears are good enough to pull off the road sweep.
Maine 4, PC 2
Massachusetts-Lowell at Massachusetts
Jim’s pick: I think the Minutemen will continue to roll, this time against their sister school.
UMass 4, UML 2
Dave’s pick: Tough times for the River Hawks.
UMass 2, UML 1
Saturday, December 5
Vermont at New Hampshire
Jim’s pick: Vermont gives UNH fits, but home ice is enough to carry the Wildcats.
UNH 5, UVM 2
Dave’s pick: UNH has been playing top-notch defense since the 5-5 tie with Brown.
UNH 4, UVM 1
Tuesday, December 7
Providence at Brown (Mayor’s Cup)
Jim’s pick: Both teams are playing above expectation levels. I think I have to go with the Bears.
Brown 3, PC 2
Dave’s pick: Brown looked awfully good in taking ties from UNH and BU.
Brown 4, PC 2
Wednesday, December 8
Northeastern at Boston University
Jim’s pick: This is a case where the smaller dog can win the fight.
BU 4, NU 1
Dave’s pick: I’m not sure that BU is as good as its record and that Northeastern is as bad, but BU’s still the heavy favorite here. I hate to be making the same pick as Jim once again, but I can’t see it any other way.
BU 3, NU 1
Vermont at Yale
Jim’s pick: Vermont’s not scoring. Yale is scoring at will. Not a good matchup.
Yale 6, Vermont 2
Dave’s pick: This could drop the Catamounts to a shocking 1-8-4 record.
Yale 4, Vermont 2
