Notre Dame senior Joe Lavin enjoyed the journey to the Frozen Four even more than the rest of his teammates. At least in some ways.
The Fighting Irish had to navigate through Hockey East, defeating Merrimack and New Hampshire in the hostile environment of the Manchester, N.H., regional.
But for Lavin, it was home sweet home. Lavin comes from Shrewsbury, Mass., practically next door, especially compared to South Bend, Ind.
“Obviously for me, that was really exciting,” Lavin said. “I don’t get to play in front of family and friends as much as I would like to. Borrowing tickets from these guys, I had like 35 or 40 people there, so that was obviously the highlight of my weekend.”
