Another light week of MCHA action, as only Adrian and Lawrence will be competing. The undefeated Bulldogs will host Wisconsin-Stevens Point in a two-game Friday-Saturday series. Lawrence will be competing in the Oswego Hockey Classic facing Castleton State on Saturday before either facing Oswego or Plymouth State on New Year’s Eve.
Last weekend, I went 2-2-0 (.500) with nonconference picks. That brings my season record to 31-22-2 (.563). I’m looking forward to getting into some “normal” hockey weekends in the New Year with a lot of exciting action.
Friday-Saturday, Dec. 28-29
Wisconsin-Stevens Point at Adrian
Wisconsin-Stevens Point (7-5-1) is on a three-game winning streak. The No. 5 Bulldogs (9-0-0) remain undefeated, with their most recent action coming Nov. 30-Dec.1, in a sweep of Concordia. Adrian’s team offense leads the nation, averaging 6.00 goals per game. I can’t imagine the three weekends off have slowed down the dominating Bulldogs. Adrian 4-1, 3-1
Saturday-Sunday, December 30-31
Lawrence vs. Castleton State, Lawrence vs. Oswego/Plymouth State
Both Lawrence (4-7-0) and Castleton (6-4-1) are new to the Oswego Hockey Classic, which has been played the past seven seasons. Lawrence most recently lost to Gustavus Adolphus, and will look to push some momentum into the second half of the season. The Vikings will face either Oswego (9-2-0) or Plymouth State (7-1-0) in a New Year’s Eve tilt. I’m hoping for a big surge from Lawrence this weekend. Lawrence 3-1, 2-1
