Colorado College v Wisconsin
Wisconsin vs. Colorado College
Matthew: This is going to be a surreal Final Five championship on several levels: The Xcel Energy Center won’t be completely packed considering North Dakota and Minnesota were eliminated previously, and few people had picked UW or CC – and even fewer picked both – to make it quite this far. Here we are, though, and I’m taking Wisconsin to close out its time in the WCHA by taking home the Broadmoor Trophy. CC goaltender Joe Howe has been phenomenal over the past two weeks and just blanked Minnesota in hostile territory in St. Paul, but I think his and the rest of the Tigers’ luck will finally run out Saturday night. The Badgers’ offense has been on fire in these playoffs, and I think it’ll solve Howe just often enough to pull out a win in the championship game. UW, 2-0.
Tyler: It’s rare to have two teams in a win-or-go-home matchup in the championship games of conference tournaments but that’s what we have tonight at the ‘X’. I’m also going to take Wisconsin because of its ability to put a stranglehold on a lead. If the Badgers get the first goal, they can hang back and make CC try to beat them through the neutral zone and teams haven’t been able to do that all weekend. It’s been a nice playoff run for Howe and the Badgers, but it comes to an end tonight. Wisconsin wins
