Amherst has named Katie Zimmerman to its women’s coaching staff.
“Coach [Liz)] Gallinaro and I could not be happier to have Katie join our staff and program,” said Amherst head coach Jeff Matthews in a statement. “Katie was an impressive player in our league, but more importantly, she possesses great integrity. She has a sharp mind for the game and a great passion to coach in the NESCAC. We are excited to have her join our Amherst women’s ice hockey family.”
Prior to Amherst, Zimmerman spent the 2013-14 season as an assistant coach for the Cortland women’s team. She graduated from Hamilton in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in communications and also enjoyed a successful four-year playing career. She led the NESCAC in goals during the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons en route to second team all-conference selections.
