We are getting down to the nitty and the gritty in the women’s Division III season.
While no ranked teams play one another this weekend, expect lots of scoreboard watching to be happening.
Candace and Matt prognosticate the weekend’s spotlight games.
Friday-Saturday, Feb. 13-14
Stevenson at Oswego
Candace: Home ice usually helps. This is likely a split, but I’ll pick the home team in both. Oswego 3-2, 2-1
Matt: This nonconference matchup, to me, has a lot of intrigue. Oswego is 16-4-1, while the independent Stevenson is 16-6-1. Does anyone get to 18 wins this weekend? Oswego might, but my bet is on two teams sitting at 17 wins come Sunday.
Saturday, Feb. 14
Franklin Pierce at Manhattanville
Candace: I’m feeling contrary, and like Manhattanville in a close one. Manhattanville 4-2
Matt: Manhattanville has five ties, but won’t add to that this weekend. Franklin Pierce has lost three of four, but gets back on the winning side of things with a win here on Valentine’s Day.
Saturday-Sunday, Feb. 14-15
No. 9 Amherst at Trinity
Candace: Trinity could give the Lord Jeffs some trouble, but I like Amherst in two close games. Amherst 2-1, 3-1
Matt: Another battle of winning teams that could go either way. Trinity has won two of its last three and Amherst has won three of four, so what gives here? I like an Amherst sweep, but hope Trinity proves me wrong and gains a split.
