The first weekend sees mostly exhibitions, but there are a few regular season games as well. Candace Horgan gives her take.
Friday-Saturday, Sept. 25-26
Robert Morris vs. Bemidji State
The Colonials started OK last season and then took a nose dive. I think they will be better, but Bemidji will be gunning to prove last season wasn’t a fluke. Bemidji State 2-1, 3-2
Union at Minnesota State
This has split written all over it, but home ice should mean something. Neither team is good at scoring; ties in both wouldn’t surprise me. Minnesota State 2-1, 1-0
Saturday-Sunday, Sept. 26-27
Minnesota-Duluth vs. Lindenwood
The Bulldogs go on the road with their first coach not named Miller in program history, as Maura Crowell takes over. Lindenwood goalie Nicole Hensley might finish her career with the highest number of shots faced by any goalie ever, but even she can’t shut them all down.
Minnesota-Duluth 3-2, 3-1
Northeastern at St. Lawrence
The Huskies have a lot of talent, especially led by U.S. National Team vet Kendall Coyne, but a trip to the North Country is always tough. This says split. St. Lawrence 2-1, Northeastern 3-2
