Each week, Candace and Matt will pick the top games of the weekend — whose crystal ball will be clearer?
Friday Oct. 30
Puck Drop Classic
Candace: Should be a barnburner in both games, with Nichols facing Buffalo State and Plymouth State facing Endicott. Nichols 3-1; Plymouth State 4-2
Matt: Friday, it’s host Nichols playing Buffalo State and Endicott battling Plymouth State. I like the host Bison in the first and then PSU getting the dunk against Endicott.
Saturday, Oct. 31
Puck Drop Classic
Candace: The teams switch up. I still like Nichols. Buffalo State 3-2; Nichols 3-1
Matt: Saturday, we have the teams crisscrossing and I see Nichols beating Endicott and Plymouth State downing Buffalo State.
All in all, not a bad way to start the college season!
Saturday-Sunday, Oct. 31-Nov. 1
East/West showcase
Candace: I see an ECAC West final matchup, and Plattsburg taking the whole shebang. FRIDAY: Plattsburgh 3-1; Elmira 3-2; SATURDAY: Norwich 3-2; Plattsburgh 3-2
Matt: The two matchups Saturday may be a preview of national tournament games next spring as No. 6 Adrian plays No. 2 Elmira and then top-ranked Plattsburgh plays No. 4 Norwich. Wow!
Some say preseason rankings don’t mean much. Do they? Possibly, but they don’t matter a ton here, as Plattsburgh gets by Norwich and Adrian gets a mild upset over Elmira.
Sunday, I see Plattsburgh beating Adrian and Elmira getting back on track with a win over Norwich.
Yeah, the Monday polls may be a tad skewed next week.
