Merrimack announced Friday the addition of defenseman Jeff Solow to the roster for the second half of the 2016-17 season.
Solow, a Naples, Fla., native, arrived in North Andover, Mass., this week as a mid-year enrollee after playing 33 games for the Amarillo Bulls of the NAHL.
“Jeff was the best player on his team and one of the best defensemen in the NAHL,” said Merrimack coach Mark Dennehy in a statement. “I want to thank [Amarillo] Coach [Matt] Nicholson for his commitment to Jeff’s development. This could be a real shot in the arm for our club down the home stretch.”
Before his departure from the Bulls, Solow was among the most productive blueliners in the NAHL this season, scoring seven goals while adding 20 assists for 27 points, good for second overall on the Bulls. For his NAHL career, he posted 50 points in 97 games, while over the last two seasons, he posted 41 points (10 goals, 31 assists) in 56 games.
Earlier this month, Solow was named the NAHL’s Defenseman of the Month for December after he posted 11 points (two goals, nine assists) in nine games.
