Overall: 50-38-2
Last time: 7-5-1
Here’s a look at the upcoming games this weekend in ECAC Hockey. All start times are 7 p.m.
Friday, Jan. 27
Yale at Brown
The Bulldogs have been playing better lately, as Yale enters the weekend with one loss in its last seven games. Patrick Spano has played well in goal for the Bulldogs recently, and that might be the difference in this game. Yale wins
Union at Clarkson
Union has continued to pile up the wins in league play, bypassing Harvard as the team to beat in the ECAC. While I wouldn’t count the Crimson out, the Dutchmen are on an impressive streak and I’m not sure Clarkson will be able to keep pace with Union’s offense. Union wins
Harvard at Cornell
A few weeks ago, I would have picked Harvard in this matchup. But the Crimson are 1-3-1 over their last five games, while Cornell have a five-game unbeaten streak entering the weekend. This is an important game between two teams that should finish in the top four of the league – and a game where I’m picking the home team to win. Cornell wins
Rensselaer at St. Lawrence
The Saints have continued to play admirably despite numerous injuries and seven straight road games to start the second half. Even with those injuries, I think St. Lawrence has enough to get the win against an RPI team that has struggled for most of the season. St. Lawrence wins
Arizona State at Quinnipiac
The Bobcats haven’t been themselves this season, but I don’t see them having too many problems against Arizona State. Quinnipiac wins
Dartmouth at Colgate
It hasn’t been a great year record-wise for either of these teams. Both the Raiders and Big Green like to play with speed – it might come down to which team can be more responsible in their own zone. Colgate wins
Saturday, Jan. 28
Rensselaer at Clarkson
Aside from the win against Harvard earlier in the month, it’s hard to pick RPI given its track record this season. On top of that, I don’t see the Golden Knights getting swept at home this weekend. Clarkson wins
Dartmouth at Cornell
Lynah Rink is a tough arena to play at – and even tougher when the Big Red are playing as well as they have been lately. Cornell wins
Union at St. Lawrence
This may be a game where missing top defenseman Gavin Bayreuther really hurts the Saints. Union has a potent offense, and I think the Dutchmen edge out a win to end the weekend. Union wins
Brown at Yale
Bulldogs with the sweep. Yale wins
Penn State vs. Princeton (Wells Fargo Center, Philadelphia, PA)
The Tigers haven’t won a game in the second half, while Penn State is one of the top teams in the country. Penn State wins
Arizona State at Quinnipiac
I think QU’s final non-conference game of the season ends with a weekend sweep. Quinnipiac wins
Harvard at Colgate
This should be another fast paced matchup, but I don’t think Colgate can match the Crimson’s scoring depth. Harvard wins
