Atlantic Hockey has suspended Sacred Heart freshman defenseman Ruslan Rakhmatov for two games as supplemental discipline.
Rakhmatov’s suspension comes after a review of his major penalty for contact to the head with 3:13 remaining in Sacred Heart’s 4-0 loss to Bentley on Friday, Feb. 17. Rakhmatov also received a game misconduct for his actions.
After reviewing the hit, Atlantic Hockey determined that a suspension was warranted and handed down the two-game ban.
Rakhmatov will not be eligible to finish the series with Bentley tonight, nor will he be available for Sacred Heart when the Pioneers travel to Air Force for the first of two games on Friday, Feb. 24.
