Potsdam at Buffalo State
These two are going to battle for the second spot in the NEWHL, and whomever wins this will likely have the inside track at being able to push Plattsburgh. I think Buffalo State has the better chance, and they’re at home. I expect them to win a close one. Buffalo State 4-3

Lake Forest at Concordia (Wis.)
I have Lake Forest as the favorite in the NCHA. I expected more out of them last week against St. Thomas, so I’m excited to see how they do at Concordia. The Falcons should finish in the top half of the conference and have a chance to pull an upset this weekend. I’ll take Lake Forest to sweep. Lake Forest 3-1, 2-0
Saturday, Nov. 5
No. 10 Wisconsin-Eau Claire at N. 7 Gustavus Adolphus
The Gusties felt like a bit of a surprise in the postseason last year, and this will be a big test for them early on. I’ll take home ice, but would be totally unsurprised by a BluGolds win. Gustavus Adolphus 4-2
No. 4 Elmira at Oswego
Oswego graduated a big senior class and Elmira is a team to be reckoned with, so I expect them to win. Elmira 4-1

No. 3 Norwich at No. 1 Plattsburgh
My pretty solid rule is to not pick against Plattsburgh until they prove that’s warranted. So I’ll take them, but think it’s going to be a great game. Plattsburgh 3-2
