I went 4-1-1 (.750) in the last week of action, but the scores won’t count in my season picks race with Nicole, which I lead, as I am 195-65-39 (.717) while she is 186-73-39 (.687).
It’s a light week of action, and we pretty much see eye-to-eye on the results.
Friday/Saturday, Dec. 29-30
Boston University at Princeton
Candace: Given BU’s potent offense of late, it’s hard to see anything other than a Terriers’ sweep. Boston University 4-2, 4-2
Nicole: I expect BU to be able to sweep this one. They’ve had time off and they need momentum and confidence in the second half. Victoria Bach and Rebecca Leslie should continue to rack up the offense for the Terriers. Boston University 4-2, 3-1
Sunday, Dec. 31
Connecticut at Dartmouth
Candace: Dartmouth struggled mightily in the first half, and home ice won’t be enough. Connecticut 4-2
Nicole: I’ll take the Huskies to win. Connecticut 3-2
Tuesday, Jan. 2
No. 2 Boston College at Merrimack
Candace: The Eagles continue to dominate in Hockey East. Boston College 5-2
Nicole: This shouldn’t cause a stumble for the Eagles. Boston College 5-3
Brown at No. 8 Providence
Candace: The Friars have been a solid team this season. Providence 3-1
Nicole: Providence has been quietly climbing the polls. Providence 4-1.
Quinnipiac at Yale
Candace: Yale has been even more uneven than Quinnipiac this season. Quinnipiac 2-1
Nicole: The Bobcats, like BU above, need all the momentum and confidence they can manage to make it through the second half. Quinnipiac 3-0
Tuesday/Wednesday, Jan. 2-3
Mercyhurst at Bemidji State
Candace: I was surprised by the Lakers’ win over Ohio State. Mercyhurst is looking like a better and better team. The Beavers meanwhile, have won five in a row. I’m going out on a limb and picking Bemidji to sweep. Bemidji State 3-2, 3-2
Nicole: The Lakers have gotten significantly better as the season progressed. I’ll pick a split here, with Bemidji winning game one and Mercyhurst winning game two. Bemidji State 3-2, Mercyhurst 2-1
