Freshman Mark Wires scored two goals and Bowling Green defeated York 8-4 on Friday at the BGSU Ice Arena.
Tyler Masters stopped 16 shots in just over 31 minutes for the Falcons. He was relieved by Shawn Timm, who stopped 20 shots. Each allowed two goals.
Bowling Green’s Phil Barski opened the scoring 4:40 into the game, but York tied the game and then went ahead on a Steve Quinn shorthanded goal with 32 seconds left in the first period.
But the second period was all Bowling Green’s. The Falcons scored six times on 14 shots.
Wires scored both of his goals and the Falcons also got scores from Ryan Wetterberg, Erik Eaton, D’Arcy McConvey (the game-winner, shorthanded), and Ryan Fultz in the second.
Grady Moore scored Bowling Green’s third-period goal.
