Laura Slominski recorded Minnesota’s second hat trick in as many days and the Gophers scored four power-play goals in a 5-4 victory over St. Cloud State on Sunday.
Ronda Curtin broke a 4-4 tie with 8:44 remaining as Minnesota swept the two-game, home-and-home series.
All of Slominski’s goals came on the power play, setting a school record. Ambria Thomas scored a hat trick in Minnesota’s 4-1 win on Saturday.
The Huskies scored as many goals Sunday as they had in six previous games against the Gophers. Minnesota outscored St. Cloud 50-4 in the six previous games in the series.
Slominski and Nadine Muzerall scored in the last minute of the first period to erase St. Cloud’s lead, gathered when Rachel Denner scored on the power play six minutes into the game.
Slominski scored her second and third goals in the second period, but Amanda Mathison and Kobi Kawamoto scored to keep St. Cloud within a goal, and Fiona McLeod tied the game on the power play, 4:24 into the third.
Minnesota outshot St. Cloud 38-20. Laura Gieselman made 33 saves for St. Cloud; Erica Killwald had 16 for Minnesota.
