Freshman Jerilyn Glenn scored two third-period goals to seal Minnesota’s 6-2 victory over Ohio State on Saturday at Mariucci Arena.
Glenn’s goals, her first two of the season, gave the Gophers a 5-2 lead. La Toya Clarke scored later in the third for the Gophers for the final margin.
Ohio State outshot Minnesota 22-19 and won 41 of the 54 faceoffs but Gophers goaltender Erica Killewald made 20 saves for the victory. The Buckeyes’ April Stojak made 13 saves.
The Buckeyes jumped out to an early lead when Emma Laaksonen scored on the power play at 7:10 of the opening period, but Ambria Thomas and Kris Scholz scored before the period was over to give Minnesota a 2-1 lead.
Ohio State limited the Gophers to just two shots in second period but one was a goal by Courtney Kennedy.
The Buckeyes’ Jeanne Chapple scored between Glenn’s goals in the third period.
