Shana Frost scored a pair of goals and freshman Kelli Halcisak had a goal and two assists as Ohio State upset second-ranked Minnesota 4-2 in a Western Collegiate Hockey Association game on Sunday.
The Gophers jumped on top just one minute, 37 seconds into the opening period as Ambria Thomas converted a Laura Slominski rebound for her fifth goal of the season.
Halcisak evened the score with 5:09 to play in the period when her shot from the right point went in.
Frost scored the first of her two goals early in the second period and Corinne Rosen’s goal with 5:23 left in the period finished Minnesota goalie Erica Killewald, who gave way to Stefanie Johnson for her collegiate debut.
After outshooting Minnesota 7-1 in the second period, the Buckeyes took a 4-1 lead on Frost’s second goal of the game before Ronda Curtin scored with 4:21 to play in the game.
Ohio State outshot the Gophers 23-16 with April Stojak making 14 saves for the Buckeyes. Killewald had 12 saves on 15 shots while Johnson stopped seven of eight shots.
