Freshman forward Tony Voce scored two goals and senior forward Mike Lephart had two assists to reach 100 career points in leading Boston College to a 5-3 victory over Notre Dame before a sold-out crowd of 2,749 at the Joyce Center.
Lephart reached the century mark with his assist on the final goal of the night, a two-on-one breakaway with fellow senior Brian Gionta that gave BC a 5-3 lead with 6:48 remaining in the game.
Voce lead the charge in the second period when he scored the first of his two second-period goals at 7:07 to break a 1-1 tie. Voce would give the Eagles the lead for good 1:53 later when he beat Irish goaltender Tony Zasowski to a rebound and flipped the puck into an empty net for his third goal of the season.
Junior forward Jeff Giuliano started the scoring for BC just 1:10 into the game, giving the Eagles an early 1-0 advantage. Senior forward Mark McLennan added to the Eagles’ second-period scoring, tallying his first goal of the season at 12:48 to give BC a 4-1 lead.
Notre Dame (3-6-2) would retaliate with two power-play goals to cut the lead to 4-3 with 10 minutes remaining, but senior goaltender Scott Clemmensen was too much for the Irish, making 34 saves for the win. Zasowski stopped 27 Eagle shots on the night.
