Netminder Scott Meyer gained his first shutout of the season, the team-record eighth of his career, in No. 8 St. Cloud State’s 5-0 win over No. 14 Wisconsin Saturday.
The win improves SCSU’s record to 11-4-1, 6-4-0 WCHA, while UW falls to 11-9-0, 8-6-0 WCHA.
Meyer was stellar once more with 24 saves in the game, while his teammates outgunned the Badgers 45 to 24 in shots on goal.
Joe Motzko scored the first goal — and the eventual game-winner — at 4:18 of the first period with assists from Jon Cullen and Derek Eastman. Cullen then extended the score to 2-0 with a goal at 1:01 of the second.
SCSU exploded for three goals in the third with tallies by Matt Hendricks at 10:54, Tyler Arnason at 14:48 and Mark Hartigan at 19:37.
Cullen and Hendricks both finished the contest with a goal and an assist as the win snapped a three-game home losing skid for the Huskies.
