John Bonnano netted the game-winner as Holy Cross edged Connecticut, 3-2, Friday evening.
Ciro Longobardi deflected Eric Nelson’s shot from the point in with just under two minutes remaining in the first period during the power play to give UConn the lead.
Greg Kealey evened the score at the 3:06 mark of the second stanza, also on a power-play goal, but Connecticut jumped ahead again on a score from Matt Owens 4:25 later. Nelson and Ron D’Angelo were credited with the assists.
Holy Cross’ J.R. Walker tied the game at the 6:50 mark, and the Crusaders took the lead for the first time on Bonnano’s goal at the 9:07 mark of the third.
UConn’s Jason Carey stopped 33 shots on goal, while Rick Massey made 29 saves for Holy Cross.
The Huskies fell to 11-18-4 (11-11-3 MAAC), while Holy Cross improved to 8-21-2 (8-15-2).
