Alaska Anchorage defeated the St. Cloud State Huskies 2-1 on Saturday.
Nate Lawson keyed the victory for UAA, stopping 34 shots in the game.
Sophomore Nate Dey gave the Huskies a 1-0 lead in the game with a goal at 4:28 of the second period. Dey, who was just out of the penalty box, was assisted on the play by sophomore Andrew Gordon and senior Konrad Reeder.
For Dey, the goal was his first of the season and his sixth goal as a Husky. For Reeder, the assist provided him with his fifth point of the weekend in Alaska.
The Seawolves ended Bobby Goepfert’s shutout streak on the weekend with a power-play goal by Charlie Kronschnabel at 7:21 of the second. He was assisted on the play by Spence Gilchrist and Billy Smith.
SCSU’s hopes of a weekend sweep in Anchorage were dashed when UAA’s Billy Smith scored at 10:11 of the third period with an assist by Brent McMann.
In the game, SCSU’s Goepfert made 24 saves. On the power play, SCSU was 0-of-3 and UAA was 1-4.
The Huskies will have off next weekend, as they prepare for a non-conference series against Robert Morris at home on Dec. 17-18. The Seawolves will travel to Denver next weekend to face the defending two-time national champions.
