Ammon needs only 7 minutes for hat trick in Princeton’s win over Massachusetts-Lowell

Andrew Ammon’s hat trick — all scored in the final seven minutes — helped Princeton rally from a 2-1 deficit for a 5-2 victory over Massachusetts-Lowell on Friday.

After Matt Arhontas pulled the teams even with just over eight minutes remaining, Ammon started his scoring spree, which represented the freshman’s first collegiate goals.

He scored at even strength with seven minutes left. He scored on the power play with 4:17 left. And he scored short-handed, into an empty net, in the final minute.

Sean Bonar made 16 saves for the Tigers (7-5).

Doug Carr stopped 40 shots for the River Hawks (2-13-2), who twice took the lead on goals by David Vallorani and Matt Ferreira.
