Jeff Collett had given the Tigers a 1-0 lead at 12:51 of the second period until Matt Leitner tied the game for the Mavericks at 15:26 of the third period.
In goal, Josh Thorimbert made 37 saves for CC, while Austin Lee kicked out 27 at the other end.
The teams meet again in the series finale at 7:07 p.m. CST Saturday night.
