Kourtney Kunichika scored a power-play goal with one second left in the second period to break a 1-1 tie and give Rochester Institute of Technology its second straight ECAC West tournament championship with a 2-1 victory over Plattsburgh on Sunday.
No. 1 RIT earned the ECAC West automatic bid to the NCAA tournament and improved its winning streak to 11 games.
Kolbee McCrea scored on a power play 2:10 into the first period to put the Tigers (25-1-1) ahead. Emma Rutherford answered for the Cardinals (18-6-3) in the second period.
Laura Chamberlain stopped 26 shots for RIT. Sydney Aveson made 19 saves for Plattsburgh.
