Laura Hurd Award favorite Teal Gove scored twice to lead the Plattsburgh Cardinals past St. Norbert, 5-2, in the quarterfinals of the NCAA tournament.
Plattsburgh State got on top early in the first when Mia Favretto passed it to Gove at the back door and Gove punched it in at 3:14.
Plattsburgh continued its strong start with a power-play goal from Chelsea VanGlahn with just three seconds left in the first.
Gove notched her second of a rebound of an Emma Rutherford shot at 14:54 of the second period. Shannon Stewart put the game out of reach at 18:03, scoring on her own rebound.
St. Norbert made a push in the third, scoring at 8:14 on Zoe Kurth’s 12th of the year after she forced a turnover in the neutral zone.
The Green Knights pulled within two when Henriette Ostergaard hit twine at 16:23, but before St. Norbert could get any closer, Rutherford went end-to-end and scored on a backhand at 17:08.
The Cardinals will play Middlebury in the Frozen Four in Superior, Wis., on March 15. It is the seventh NCAA Frozen Four appearance for the Cardinals.
