PRINCETON, N.J. — Senior Taylor Woods scored twice in the final 1:16 of the game as Cornell rallied to defeat No. 10 Princeton 2-1 on Friday.
The Tigers opened the scoring late in the first period, as Kiersten Falck netted her first goal of the year on the power play, assisted by Molly Strabley and Kimiko Marinacci.
Late in the third, as Princeton was on the power play, Woods intercepted an outlet pass at the blue line, skated in to the right circle and fired a high wrist shot that beat goaltender Alysia DaSilva glove side to tie the game with 1:16 remaining.
It looked as though the game was destined for overtime, but a last-minute stretch pass from Erin O’Conner sent Woods into the zone again one on one with DaSilva, who made the initial point-blank save. But the rebound bounced right to Woods along the goal line, and she spun and fired a shot that slithered underneath DaSilva and inside the far post with 21 seconds remaining.
DaSilva finished the game with 28 saves for the Tigers. Paula Voorhies made 20 saves in the victory for the Big Red.
