GRAND FORKS, N.D. — Coltyn Sanderson and Brock Boeser scored second-period goals for No. 1 North Dakota, which rallied for a split with No. 9 Omaha thanks to a 5-1 victory on Saturday.
Drake Caggiula, Troy Stecher and Luke Johnson also scored for the Fighting Hawks (19-3-2, 10-2 NCHC).
Tyler Vesel opened the scoring for the Mavericks (15-6-1, 5-6-1).
North Dakota’s Cam Johnson stopped 28 shots, while Omaha’s Kirk Thompson allowed three goals on nine shots in the game’s first 26:08. He was replaced by Alex Blankenburg, who stopped 12 of 14 shots.
Caggiula, North Dakota’s leading scorer, left the game in the second period with an injury.
Only update on Drake Caggiula at this point is that he’s out for the rest of the game. Injury happened on 1st shift of 2nd period.
