Alabama-Huntsville 3, Alaska-Anchorage 2 (OT)
Matt Salhany’s second goal of the season with 1:06 remaining in overtime gave the Charges a 3-2 victory and a two-game road weekend sweep of the Seawolves.
Alabama-Huntsville jumped out to a 2-0 lead on second period goals by Hans Gorowsky and Kurt Gosselin. The Alaska-Anchorage came charging back. Matt Anholt cut the lead to one with 14:08 remaining and Nils Rygaard’s shorthanded marker at 14:07 of the third sent the game to overtime.
The extra session, though, was all Chargers as they mustered all three shots, ending the game on Salhany’s late marker.
Bemidji State 3, Alaska 1
The Beavers scored twice in three power play opportunities and goaltender Michael Bitzer made 21 saves as Bemidji State overtook Alaska, 3-1. Brendan Harms and Charlie O’Connor each scored a goal and added an assist to pace the offense.
Ferris State 3, Bowling Green 1
The Bulldogs got goal at even strength on the power play and shorthanded en route to a 3-1 victory on the road over the Falcons. Three different scorers found the net for Ferris State and goaltender Justin Kapelmaster finished with 26 saves in the victory.
Minnesota State 2, Lake Superior 1
Brad McClure scored a first-period power play goal and Jordan Nelson tallied shorthanded in the second to pace the Minnesota State offense. Lake Superior’s J.T. Henke added a power play goal of his own in the second but that wasn’t enough as the Mavericks held on for a 2-1 road victory.
Michigan Tech 5, Michigan State 1
Five different goal scorers paced the Michigan Tech offense as the Huskies skated past Michigan State, 5-1. Michgan Tech allowed just 18 shots on goal including four in the game’s final period.
Wisconsin 2, Northern Michigan 0
The Wildcats couldn’t find a way to solve goaltender Jack Berry as the rookie stopped all 22 shots he faced to earn a shutout in his first career start. Northern Michigan went 0-for-4 on the power play and allowed two power play goals on the road in a two-game split against the Badgers.
