Jake Lucchini lone goal during the shootout was the deciding the win for the Huskies, who also Joel L’Esperance and Alex Gillies each score in the first period. MTU goalie Patrick Munson stopped three attempts during the shootout and finished with 23 saves on the night. J.T. Henke and Anthony Nellis each scored during regulation for the Lakers.

Ryan Poehling’s one-timer for the Huskies knotted the score 4-4 and sent the game into overtime, while his older brother, Nick Poehling, notched the game-winner at 2:06 of sudden death. Alaska’s Ross Heidt snapped a 3-3 tie with 3:04 left in regulation

The two teams settled for a tie after two overtimes couldn’t decide a winner. BSU’s Michael Bitzer saved 45 shots, while Duluth’s Nick Deery stopped 27 shots.
