HANOVER, N.H. — Yale scored three times midway through the third period to break open a 1-1 game to defeat New Hampshire in what amounted to the third-place game of the Ledyard Bank Tournament.
Though these two teams were scheduled to meet in predetermined pairings for the event, each lost on the opening night, making Saturday’s early contest the de facto consolation game.
Two goals from Dante Palecco sandwiched around an Evan Smith tally in a 7:02 span of the third was the difference for the Bulldogs. Robbie DeMontis also scored for Yale, while Frankie Cefalu and Richard Boyd provided the offense for UNH, which has lost three in a row and eight of 12 since starting the season with five wins.
