PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Connecticut pulled off an upset on Saturday knocking off Providence, 3-1, on the road to earn a split on the Thursday–Saturday series.
The Huskies jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals by Johnny Austin and Joseph Masonius before Brian Pinho cut the lead to one on a goal with 5:41 left in the second.
Neither team mustered many shots in the third but Max Letunov put the game away for UConn with an empty netter with 53 second remaining.
