The teams combined for 25 shots as part of a wild first period, and the Black Knights never trailed in defeating the first place Golden Griffins at HARBORCenter in downtown Buffalo.
Michael Wilson scored twice for the visitors, both times on the power play. His 16th goal of the year gave the Cadets a 1-0 lead at the 5:21 mark, and his second of the night pushed the Black Knights to a two-goal lead in the second.
In between, both teams traded goals. Trevor Fidler scored with Tucker DeYoung in the penalty box for a short-handed goal, while Matt Long brought the Griffs back within one late in the period. Felix Chamberland scored halfway through the second to keep the game at one goal, but Canisius failed to tie it before the final horn.
Daniel Urbani stopped 27 shots for the hosts, while Cole Bruns won his eighth game of the year with 17 saves in net for West Point.
