A matchup of ECAC Hockey’s two top teams went down to the wire, as Union’s Brett Supinksi scored 11:10 into the third period to give the Dutchmen a 4-3 win over Cornell. J.C. Brassard had a goal and an assist for Union, while Liam Morgan and Anthony Rinaldi each added two assists. Jake Kupsky stopped 21 shots for the win. Union finished three-for-three on the power play, including the 20th goal of the season by Ryan Scarfo late in the first. Tristan Mullin, Yanni Kaldis, and Matt Cairns scored for Cornell. Hayden Stewart made 32 saves for the Big Red. It was the senior’s first start since Jan.5. Both teams have a bye next weekend in the opening round of the league playoffs. Cornell clinched its first regular season championship since 2005 on Friday, while Union finished second.
