Shane Fukushima pushed home a goal nearly four minutes into overtime as Wisconsin-River Falls beat Marian 3-2 Saturday at the Blueline Ice Center.<\/p>\n
River Falls, ranked ninth in the USCHO.com preseason poll, came away from the season-opening series with a tie and and overtime victory against unranked Marian. And for the second straight night, the Falcons needed a late goal to reach overtime. This time, Jamie Steinert scored at the 17:21 mark of the third period for a 2-2 tie.<\/p>\n
The teams exchanged power-play goals early. Jeff Bernard scored for River Falls midway through the first period, then Dan Odegard equalized for Marian just under a minute into the second period.<\/p>\n
Tommy Kotsopoulos gave Marian a 3-2 lead on a shorthanded breakway just over eight minutes into the third period.<\/p>\n
