Northeastern defeated Yale 5-0 in an ECAC game Sunday afternoon at Matthews Arena.<\/p>\n
Michelle Lorion had a pair of goals and Kim Vallone had three assists to lead the Huskies. NU improves to 4-0 on the season and 2-0 in ECAC while Yale falls to 0-2 and 0-2 in the league.<\/p>\n
Senior Lisa Giovanelli opened the scoring with her second goal in as many days at 5:07 of the first. Lorion then scored on the power-play at 16:01 for a 2-0 lead at the end of one. NU senior goalie Erika Silva made five saves in the first period before giving way to Chanda Gunn (17 saves) for the final two.<\/p>\n
Lorion made the score 3-0 when she finished off a nice pass from Giovanelli at 14:39 of the second. Colleen Coen (one goal, one assist) redirected a Jessica Ferwerda slap shot from the blue line at 16:09 for NU’s fifth goal. Brooke Whitney closed the scoring for the game with a nifty move cutting in front of the Yale goal for the score at 9:33 of the third.<\/p>\n
