Western Michigan outshot Bowling Green 38-23 and scored five second-period goals en route to the Broncos’ 8-1 win over the Falcons.<\/p>\n
Up 3-1 at 14:22 in the second, WMU notched two goals within the next 2:09 for a 5-1 lead. The Broncos finished the second period with a 19-6 shot advantage.<\/p>\n
Western Michigan (13-10-4, 7-9-3 CCHA) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first period when its leading scorer, Mike Bishai, scored his ninth goal of the season at 4:46. The BGSU defense held for the remainder of the period, however, and the Falcons were down just 1-0 at the end
\nof the opening 20 minutes. <\/p>\n
The Broncos opened up their lead early in the second period with goals from Dana Lattery at 5:50 and Austin Miller at 7:10 for a 3-0 advantage. The Falcons cut into the lead with a goal by Steve Brudzewski at 14:22, but Andy Townsend made it 4-1 at 15:09 and Pat Dwyer’s goal gave the Broncos a 5-1 lead at 16:31.<\/p>\n
With 40 seconds left in the second, Chad Kline made it 6-1 with each team down a man.<\/p>\n
Dwyer’s second goal of the night at 3:30 in the third, and a goal by Shaun Rose at 12:12 brought the final score to 8-1.<\/p>\n
BGSU outshot Western Michigan 10-7 in the final period and killed off 11 power plays. However, the Falcons were 0-for-4 on the power play and had 12 penalties compared to WMU’s six.<\/p>\n
WMU’s Jeff Reynaert had 22 saves in the net while Tyler Masters had 30 saves for Bowling Green.<\/p>\n
