{"id":1570,"date":"2011-04-08T19:33:24","date_gmt":"2011-04-09T00:33:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.uscho.com\/frozen-four\/?p=1570"},"modified":"2011-04-08T19:33:24","modified_gmt":"2011-04-09T00:33:24","slug":"frattins-bittersweet-friday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.uscho.com\/2011\/04\/08\/frattins-bittersweet-friday\/","title":{"rendered":"Frattin&#8217;s bittersweet Friday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Matt Frattin admitted the sting of North Dakota&#8217;s 2-0 semifinal loss to Michigan still lingered as he faced the media for the last time as a college hockey player.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Obviously, I&#8217;m disappointed about the loss last night where a few bounces didn&#8217;t go our way,&#8221; Frattin said at the press conference following the Hobey Baker Memorial Award presentation Friday at the Xcel Energy Center.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;But today was a life experience that not many people can cherish.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Frattin did not win college hockey&#8217;s top individual award but, as one of three finalists, appeared before a national television audience, a thousand or two UND fans and his Fighting Sioux teammates in the seats.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was a group decision with the coaching staff for the team to stay back today and be here for moral support,&#8221; Frattin said.<\/p>\n<p>UND coach Dave Hakstol and his wife, Erinn, Frattin&#8217;s parents, Val and Giby, and Frattin&#8217;s brother accompanied Matt on the ice for the presentation.<\/p>\n<p>Frattin said he is flying to Toronto on Saturday to join the NHL team that drafted him in the fourth round of the 2007 draft, the Toronto Maple Leafs.<\/p>\n<p>He&#8217;ll join the club Saturday night for the season finale against Montreal.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There&#8217;s so much history between those two clubs and I can&#8217;t even imagine how crazy the fans and the atmosphere is going to be,&#8221; Frattin said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Matt Frattin admitted the sting of North Dakota&#8217;s 2-0 semifinal loss to Michigan still lingered as he faced the media for the last time as a college hockey player. &#8220;Obviously, I&#8217;m disappointed about the loss last night where a few bounces didn&#8217;t go our way,&#8221; Frattin said at the press conference following the Hobey Baker [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":38,"featured_media":140328,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":"","_links_to":"","_links_to_target":""},"categories":[1426],"tags":[677],"coauthors":[],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v23.4 -
