Friday, Feb. 24

Union at Colgate

I would say this could be a trap game for the Dutchmen but with Harvard and Cornell still in position to over take Union at the top of the standings, Rick Bennett will have his players to come to play. Colgate will want to be a position to host a first round playoff series, they will give Union all they can handle. Dutchmen win.

Rensselaer at Cornell

If Saturday’s contest is going to mean anything for Cornell they need to win Friday’s game. This could be another trap game with RPI likely to stay in 11th place, the Engineers still want to be playing good hockey heading into the playoffs. I don’t think they have the depth to compete with the Big Red. Cornell wins.

St. Lawrence at Dartmouth

It’s a big weekend on the road for the Saints this weekend. They stop in Hanover first on Friday with the Big Green. St. Lawrence should be hungry with only getting a point last weekend versus Colgate. Dartmouth is currently holding that last home playoff spot. It will be tough for them against a strong defensive team in St. Lawrence. The door is open other teams to give that last home playoff spot. Saints win.

Clarkson at Harvard

Both teams are looking to move up the standings. Harvard is one point from first while Clarkson is two points behind Quinnipiac for fifth. The Golden Knights are looking for some redemption from the 7-3 loss back in early December. It will a closer game, but I see the same result happening. Crimson win.

Brown at Princeton

The Tigers left some points on the board last weekend with their 4-3 loss to RPI. They look to regain those points as they host the Bears. Brown played them tough in Providence at the beginning of the month. I don’t think that will be the case this time around with so much on the line for Princeton. Tigers win.

Yale at Quinnipiac

This could the best game of the weekend. I expect it to be a low scoring affair compared the last time the teams met. Both teams are looking for consistency as they head into the playoffs. I give Quinnipiac the slight edge in talent. The Bobcats win.

Saturday, Jan. 25

Rensselaer at Colgate

This should be a good game that won’t get the attention because of the other two big games on the schedule on Saturday. RPI beat them 5-2 the first time the teams have met, but the Raiders should come ready to play on Saturday. The Raiders win.

Union at Cornell

It seems like just like yesterday these teams faced off against each other. The Dutchmen still have that 5-3 loss fresh in their mind. I expect another close game. With the top of the standing being so tight for most of the year why would the last weekend be any different? Cornell wins.

Clarkson at Dartmouth

Another game that will go under the radar on Saturday. The Golden Knights doubled up Dartmouth 4-2 in the first meeting of the season. Dartmouth wants to finish the regular season with above .500 record at home. They need one win this weekend for that to happen. Clarkson depth though wins out. Clarkson wins.

St. Lawrence at Harvard

As well as Harvard is playing, I don’t think they have the same offensive success as they have had lately. I think St. Lawrence will give them fits and will keep the contest low scoring. Kyle Hayton could easily help lead the Saints to a victory. At the same time, the Crimson may just find enough offense to win. I will take Harvard.

Yale at Princeton

Princeton has the advantage going into the game as they won the first game in New Haven 4-2. At the same time like all season you don’t know which Princeton team will show up. I think the Bulldogs top end talent is the difference maker. Yale wins.

Brown at Quinnipiac

The Bobcats have a good chance to get four points this weekend. Talent wise they are stronger top to bottom. Brown though won’t make it easy like the last time these two teams faced each other as Quinnipiac won 1-0. I think the Bobcats will be more comfortable at home. Quinnipiac wins.

Last time: 6-4-1 Overall: 52-23-6 All games are 7 p.m. or 7:05 p.m. start times.
