{"id":22942,"date":"2000-10-05T11:52:42","date_gmt":"2000-10-05T16:52:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.uscho.com\/2000\/10\/05\/utica-neumann-to-join-ecac-west-in-20012002\/"},"modified":"2010-08-17T19:53:57","modified_gmt":"2010-08-18T00:53:57","slug":"utica-neumann-to-join-ecac-west-in-20012002","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.uscho.com\/2000\/10\/05\/utica-neumann-to-join-ecac-west-in-20012002\/","title":{"rendered":"Utica, Neumann to Join ECAC West in 2001-2002"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ECAC West athletic directors have accepted the applications of both Utica College and <a href='\/m\/?team=neumann'>Neumann College<\/a> for admission into the league, at league meetings being held on Cape Cod this week.<\/p>\n<p>Utica is starting both men&#8217;s and women&#8217;s ice hockey programs, to begin varsity competition in the 2001-2002 season. Utica recently named Gary Heenan its men&#8217;s head coach, and Dave Clausen its women&#8217;s coach. Both were previously assistants at Hamilton. The two coaches have begun recruiting in anticipation of starting play next season.<\/p>\n<p>An announcement regarding a conference affiliation for the women&#8217;s program is forthcoming.<\/p>\n<p>Neumann will also be joining the ECAC West for the &#8217;01-&#8217;02 hockey season. Neumann is a small college in southeastern Pennsylvania and currently competes as an Independent in men&#8217;s ice hockey.<\/p>\n<p>With the addition of Utica and Neumann, the ECAC West will be comprised of six teams for the &#8217;01-&#8217;02 season. Neumann will be a full-fledged member of the league, however their membership status will be reviewed after the third season to ensure that certain improvements to the program have been accomplished.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Additions of both teams are a plus for the league,&#8221; said ECAC assistant commissioner Steve Hagwell, &#8220;and it is certainly good for the teams coming in to be associated with this caliber of a league.&#8221; <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ECAC West athletic directors have accepted the applications of both Utica College and <a href=\"\/m\/?team=neumann\">Neumann College<\/a> for admission into the league, at league meetings being held on Cape Cod this week.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":11,"featured_media":140328,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":"","_links_to":"","_links_to_target":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"coauthors":[],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v24.2 -
